Feel it, See it, Hear it, Taste it, Smell it.

To develop your inner sense of creativity, awareness and acuity, learn to pay attention to wide variety of different information. Practice this now, by reading each of the points below, trying to vividly imagine the sensation. You'll be surprised how good your mind can remember senses.

If you're visually oriented, focus on the "sound" or the "smell" of a situation. If you're analytically oriented, focus on how something feels. If you're intuitive, concentrate on the logic.

To see things a bit differently, ask yourself questions related to the senses. For example: If your problem were a food, what would it taste like? What is the smell of your current situation? What are the "below the surface" sounds? What are the subtlest colors? What other senses can you use to develop your idea?

Do the following spark in your mind that might be useful to your issue?
the sound of violins proceeding your issue ...
the sound of giggling children being tickled by a dad ...
the feeling of a dentist drilling in your teeth ...
the taste of salt rather than sugar in your tea ...
the smell of fresh paint ...
the smell of a freshly washed shirt ...
the fragrant aroma of sweet incense ...
the feeling of silk gliding through your fingers ...
the smell of mist from a large fountain ...
the smell of fresh-brewed coffee ...
the feeling of a tennis ball hitting the heart of your racket ...
the feeling of a row boat gliding across a lake ...
the smell of fresh seafood ...
the sound of loud thunder crashing near you ...
the taste of a fresh strawberry ...
the feel of a keyboard ...
the smell of gasoline ...
the feeling of diving into a swimming pool on a hot day ...
the sound of an air raid siren going off ...
the smell of burning leaves ...
the feeling of the warm sun on a cold winter's day ...
the taste and sound of biting into a crunchy apple ...
the feeling of of a good belly laugh and tears in the eyes...
the feeling of a large crowd cheering at an event ...
the smell of fresh pastry baking in the early morning ...
the smell of leather upholstery in a European sedan ...
the feeling of pushing yourself hard in an athletic event.

Here's an application:
Practice listening in the same way during prayer. You might find your developing intuition and imagination can be guided toward understanding or discernment. Ask God to lead you and to cover your imagination with his spirit.

For a very interesting read, visit Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research in relation to prayer. You'll find scientific evidence that will knock your mental socks off and add a great deal of confidence to your prayer times.
