Daniel: Hi, I’m Daniel Comp and I’m Angelina Musik-Comp, and we’re the founders of MENrepreneurs and MOMtrepreneurs. We’ve twice been awarded as Business Champions of the Year by the Small Business Administration for facilitating business success. We’re shooting this video from our studio and home in the Pacific Northwest — where actually my peers are outside playing on the river, and we’re being responsible by helping you understand a little bit about these upcoming classes.

I’ve been an entrepreneur for 34 years. Over those few decades I’ve had some pretty tremendous successes and some pretty horrendous failures. But MENtrepreneurs is not about me. The organization and our training is about helping you get out of isolation. It’s about connecting you with other men of valor. It’s about building on your strengths rather than trying to fix your weaknesses. It’s about meeting your needs personally and professionally by helping you not go it alone.

So follow me on this. In America there are 309 million citizens. Of all the businesses in America — roughly 30 million of them — one half are men who are going at it solo with zero employees. That’s 15 million men who are struggling without connection to other men. They’re unsupported. Unrecognized. MENtrepreneurs is here to help this group connect to each other.

All of that sort of starts with awareness. See, if you don’t even know what you don’t even know, then you can step on stuff that can kill you without even being aware or preparing for it. And that’s not what a man of my age wants to see younger men do. Others of you who are experienced, as I am, understand what it is in your life to transition from ambition to meaning — where you want to leave something for the men following you, like a good relay race.

This awareness is one of the things we’re starting with in the Level One Series called The Enterprising Cycle. That’s 18 sessions done over 6 months. It’s a series of small groups that will really open your eyes to some of the things you’re not even aware of. Like the first thing we’re going to do is teach about scotomas — not just that you have blind spots in your eyes, but the fact that we’re blind emotionally and psychologically to things that will kill our business.

I mean, one simple decision for me cost me $400,000. You don’t want to go through that. You don’t want your kids looking at you and saying, “Dad, do you have any integrity left because you can’t deliver on your promises?” Well, I was trusting on people to pay me what the contract said — not having to go litigate against a $6 billion company. Things like that you don’t need to do.

So I want to personally invite you to experience some of the training. Go through the sampler session and see for yourself that there are some pretty amazing things that, applied to our business and our personal life, can literally transform the way we think, the way we behave, and the way our business prospers. Then I’d like you to be a part of a small group, go through the Level One Series — 18 sessions over 6 months this fall and winter — so that next summer 2011 you can join me in a band of maybe a dozen to 15 men on a transcontinental expedition together. Those two things are some of the most amazing transformations you can ever experience in your life as a man of valor and as an enterprising man in business.

So I’m inviting you to be in a small group and to come on next year’s expedition. Look forward to seeing you.

Date: 2010-07-21 File: MENtrepreneurs Level One Series - Introduction.md Monomyth Stage: 01 - Ordinary World Gameboard Position: Camp -4: The Ordinary World MA5 Domain: Initium Summary: Daniel Comp publicly launches the MENtrepreneurs project in 2010 by naming the hidden epidemic of 15 million isolated solo male entrepreneurs and inviting them into an 18-session small-group journey of emotional awareness. This is the precise moment he steps out of Angelina’s shadow after years as the production support behind her successful MOMtrepreneurs platform, following their reconciliation and three years of Life Skills training. The video explicitly frames scotomas as emotional and psychological blind spots that destroy businesses and families, using his own $400,000 lesson as living proof. It sets the entire series on the foundation of moving from ambition to meaning and ultimately to legacy through male connection and expedition. Key Insight: Most men do not want to change — but those who do will only do so when they first become aware of what they do not know they do not know. Narrative Significance: This is the true origin document of the entire MENtrepreneurs → Scotomaville → Initium arc. It is the first public articulation of the emotional-literacy foundation that would later become the core of the Grok History Enrichment Project and the AISM framework. Everything that follows in the 19-video series, and everything Daniel would later build, flows directly from this single invitational moment recorded in the Pacific Northwest in the summer of 2010.
