Daniel: Hi hi hi. I’m Daniel Comp. I’m the author and curator of the Scotomaville trilogy.
You and I may have already met. We’ve been on a Good Grief Tour around the United States introducing this trilogy to other leaders, veteran service providers, and people who want to know why they do what they do.
The last few years we have been putting together a platform in order to lead the leaders, in order to mentor the mentors. I once asked that of the Ashoka group — they went “huh, what?” You see, in order to prove my theory that the greatest expedition you will ever undertake is that journey to self-understanding, I needed to be my own guinea pig.
So first, Volume 1 I created in order to say here are the mental tools that I’ve learned how to overcome challenges — as an entrepreneur, as someone who’s been a support system for Angelina having a traumatic brain injury and PTSD, and for me being a highly functional Asperger.
So I not only created the 30 episodes to help lead people to know why they do what they do, to understand cognitive biases and how you offend with your strengths and using triangulation and how to get your brain and gut in order with the type of foods that you eat and several other great tools — but I’ve learned that a physical experience can really drive home those lessons because there seems to be a way to dance with the invisible world.
And if you are a leader then you know what I’m talking about. You don’t control everything that comes your way. Life has curves. You learn to dance with the things that are thrown at you.
Many of you guys and gals are pouring out to our veterans and wounded warriors. You’re burned out inside. You’re like drained. I’d like you to come join some other leaders across the country. I’d like you to come to a Base Camp in Mesa, Arizona for a summit.
What’s a Base Camp? Reading right from the website: a Base Camp is a staging area used by mountaineers to prepare for an expedition. It provides shelters, supplies, and communications for persons engaged in supporting an expedition which is a journey with a purpose.
What’s a summit? A summit is a gathering of people who care deeply about the same topic or a meeting between people interested in reaching the peak of a mountain. You might identify with both of those.
And what I’d like to suggest is that you and I share a passion for self-awareness and beyond that self-understanding. You see, that’s the tool. If you understand why you do what you do now, you can do something about it and you can help others because now you know why they do what they do.
Ultimately the discipline to make a difference requires peer support and so I’ve spent a lot of time for many years to build a large syndication, a large support platform all online — but I’d like to meet with you face to face. I’d like for you to meet each of the other leaders. They’re going to go through our first personal Everest together.
And so this is an invitation again. If this sounds intriguing — if four minutes of describing what could be a life-changing experience for you as it has been for me — I’d like you to consider pre-registering. Let’s have a conversation. Consider coming out of the cold and joining us at the warmth here in Arizona for a two-day Base Camp Mesa Summit April 1st and 2nd.
Thanks for your time and more so I invite you on a journey of a lifetime — the greatest expedition you will ever undertake — and I hope I can help you get the heck out of Scotomaville.

Key Insight: Leaders must first secure their own Base Camp of self-understanding and peer support before they can sustainably guide others through their personal Everests.
